Hannover 96 has confirmed the signing of Tunisian winger Elias Saad on loan for the remainder of the season, completing a move aimed at reinforcing the club’s attacking options during a decisive phase of the campaign.
The 26-year-old arrives from FC Augsburg under an agreement that runs until the end of the current season.
Hannover identified Saad as a player capable of adding speed and attacking intent, and the club moved quickly to secure his services ahead of the second half of the season.
Saad joined Augsburg last summer after his move from FC St. Pauli, committing to a long-term contract that extends until 2029.
Despite that investment, opportunities remained limited during the first half of the season.
He featured in ten Bundesliga matches and logged a total of 499 minutes, a level of involvement that prompted a reassessment of his immediate future.
While domestic minutes proved scarce, Saad maintained his competitive edge through international duty.
He earned selection for Tunisia at the Africa Cup of Nations and appeared in two matches, demonstrating both availability and commitment at a demanding stage of the season. That exposure reinforced his desire to remain an active contributor at club level.
FC Augsburg openly explained the reasoning behind the loan move. Sporting director Benni Weber stated that Saad required more consistent playing time and highlighted the player’s ambition to remain in contention for major international tournaments with Tunisia.
Weber stressed that a loan until the end of the season represented the most appropriate solution and extended his best wishes to Saad for his time at Hannover 96.
For Hannover, the deal delivers an immediate attacking reinforcement without long-term risk. Saad brings Bundesliga experience, tactical flexibility, and the motivation of a player eager to re-establish himself through regular action.
The club expects him to compete for a starting role and to contribute quickly as the campaign progresses.
For Saad, the move offers a clear pathway to minutes and momentum. As the season reaches a critical point, he now has the platform to regain rhythm and make a tangible impact in Hannover colours.
