Tunisian football giants, Esperance, bid farewell to the Tunisian Cup in the Round of 32 against the second-tier team, Mhiedh Garqanah, currently languishing in tenth place in the Tunisian second division.
The match between Esperance and Mhiedh Garqanah concluded with the latter triumphing 2-1 in a game marked by two red cards for Esperance.
In the 60th minute, young player Amanullah Al-Farikhi was sent off, followed by another red card for Esperance’s Hani Amamu in the 64th minute.
Coach Miguel Cardoso of Esperance opted to field a significant number of youth players in this match, a decision that ultimately did not secure their progression in the Cup.
It appears Esperance’s primary focus remains on the upcoming African Champions League final slated for the 18th of this month.
Prior to their encounter with Al Ahly, Esperance has one final league match against Etoile du Sahel on the 12th of this month, marking the culmination of the Tunisian league.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly prepares for their last fixture before facing Esperance, squaring off against Baladiya Al Mahalla next Saturday.
