Tunisian tactician Nasreddine Nabi drags Raja AC to FIFA over contract dispute

Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi has reportedly taken his contract dispute with Raja Athletic Club to FIFA, with his lawyer seeking compensation for the remaining period of his contract with the Moroccan club.

As per reports, Nabi’s lawyer has filed an appeal with FIFA to claim outstanding dues believed to amount to approximately 320 million centimes, representing the remainder of the coach’s contract.

Nabi’s agreement with Raja AC was understood to run from November until June, but the relationship came to an abrupt end after the club decided to terminate his contract.

The Tunisian trainer was unhappy with the manner in which the termination was communicated. The Tunisian coach reportedly received the dismissal notice through a court bailiff, a method he considered offensive and inconsistent with an amicable separation.

The development reportedly came as a surprise to Nabi, who had already participated in Raja’s pre-season preparations and was involved in training the squad before being informed of the club’s decision.

According to reports, Nabi believes the timing of the termination caused him significant professional and financial damage because several clubs that could have been potential destinations had already completed their coaching appointments.

Nabi is also reportedly dissatisfied with the compensation he received for his September and October salaries, arguing that the payment does not adequately reflect the losses he suffered as a result of the termination.

His legal team therefore decided to take the matter to FIFA in an attempt to recover what they believe is owed to the coach for the remaining duration of his contract.

The case will now depend on the contractual terms agreed between Nabi and Raja, as well as the circumstances surrounding the termination and the arguments presented by both parties before FIFA.

Raja AC announced the termination of Nabi’s contract last Monday, stating that the decision had been taken “in full compliance with the contractual provisions” agreed between the two sides.

The club’s position contrasts with Nabi’s reported assessment of the situation, setting the stage for a legal dispute that could ultimately be decided by FIFA.

Until the proceedings are concluded, the exact amount owed to Nabi and whether he is entitled to compensation for the remainder of his contract will remain subject to the outcome of the case.
