Tunisian forward Osama Boukrar clinched the winning goal in the 16th minute of the first half, securing the lead for Tunis and ultimately ensuring their dominance in Group B.
Tunis now stands at the top of the group with 28 points from 10 matches, maintaining an unbeaten streak with nine victories and a single draw.
Their remarkable performance includes scoring 17 goals while conceding only three.
On the other side, Sfaxien, with 19 points from 11 matches, sits in the third position in Group B, trailing by six points behind the second-placed Union Monastir, which has played ten matches.
The Tunisian league operates with a two-group system, A and B, each comprising seven teams.
The top four teams from each group advance to the championship stage, while the remaining teams enter the relegation group.
This win for Tunis is significant, marking their first victory at the Tebiba Mehir Stadium against Sfaxien in five years.
The last win was secured by Tunis in the initial round, clinching a 1-0 victory courtesy of a goal by Brazilian striker Yan Sassi.
Although the match didn’t reach the anticipated level of artistry, the standout moment was undoubtedly Boukrar’s goal in the 16th minute of the first half.
Mohamed Ben Ali delivered a precise cross from the right, eluding everyone and reaching Boukrar just in front of the goal, allowing him to slot the ball into the empty net.
This victory marks the 64th win for Tunis in the historical 140th encounter against Sfaxien.
Sfaxien, on the other hand, has secured 30 victories, and 46 matches have ended in draws. The goal tally stands at 182 for Tunis and 117 for Sfaxien.
