Tunisian international Yan Valery has joined Swiss side BSC Young Boys on loan from Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old right-back, who has featured regularly for Tunisia with 20 caps, was officially confirmed as a Young Boys player on Monday, 9 February 2026. The loan deal does not include an option to buy.
Valery brings extensive top-level experience to the Swiss champions. He has made 43 Premier League appearances and played 69 matches in the Championship in England, in addition to 30 Ligue 1 and 35 Ligue 2 games in France.
The defender has also represented clubs including Southampton, Birmingham City, Angers, and Sheffield Wednesday.
A regular starter for Tunisia during the recent December and January international breaks, Valery also featured at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, adding further international pedigree to his profile.
His arrival is expected to strengthen Young Boys’ defence as the reigning Swiss champions aim to improve their current league position, sitting sixth in the standings.
Young Boys praised Valery’s experience and versatility, noting that his blend of domestic and international experience makes him a valuable addition to the squad.
The club hopes his arrival will help solidify the back line and provide competition for places as they push for domestic and European success.
For Valery, the loan offers an opportunity to gain regular playing time and maintain match fitness ahead of the final stages of the season.
His presence is also expected to add leadership and stability to a Young Boys defence that has been inconsistent this term.
With the loan running through to the end of the 2025–26 season, Valery will have the chance to contribute immediately in both league and cup competitions, while Young Boys look to regain momentum in their bid for a strong finish.
