Tunisian coach Anis Boujelbene is currently in the lead for the vacant Al Masry coaching job, as the search for a new trainer continues.
Al Masry are in the haunt for a new trainer after mutually parting ways with Ali Maher over a string of unimpressive results.
According to reports, Boujelbene, who is currently managing ES Jerba, is the frontrunner to replace Maher.
Boujelbene, 47, has experience coaching CS Sfaxien, Stade Tunisian, and US Ben Guerdane. He also played for Al Ahly between 2007 and 2009.
The Egyptian outfit were poor in their last three matches under Ali Maher, drawing two and losing one across the period.
Al Masry played out a 0-0 draw against National Bank before succumbing to a narrow defeat to Ghazl Al Mahalla, followed by a 0-0 draw against Ismaily on Saturday.
Maher, who joined Al Masry in July 2023 leaves the club after almost one-year spell with the Port Said side.
The decision to part ways with Maher comes at a critical time, with five weeks remaining for their crunch CAF Confederation Cup match against Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
The Egyptian outfit will play host to Simba SC on April 3, 2025 before the return fixture in Tanzania.
The club is currently fifth on the league standing with 24 points after 15 matches into the Egyptian Premier League campaign.
