Egyptian Premier League side Al Masry SC have named Tunisian coach Anis Boujelbene as their new head coach, following the dismissal of Ali Maher due to a string of poor results.
The club made the announcement on Monday, confirming Boujelbene’s appointment through their official account on X.
“The one who knows how to make a difference is ready to take on the challenge… Anis Boujelbene is the new head coach of the Green Eagles,” the club’s statement read.
Boujelbene arrives with considerable coaching experience, having previously worked as an assistant coach at CS Sfaxien under Ghazi Ghrairi and Paulo Duarte.
He later took charge of Hammam-Lif during the 2016–2017 season before managing US Ben Guerdane in 2018.
His career then saw him return to Sfaxien as head coach for the 2020–2021 season. He was reappointed by the club in the 2022–2023 campaign before moving to lead Moustakbal Béni Khalled.
His most recent coaching job was at ES Jerba, but he stepped down from his role to take charge at Al Masry.
With his appointment, Boujelbene becomes the second Tunisian to coach the club, following Moein Chaabani.
As a former player, Boujelbene is well known in Egyptian football, having represented Al Ahly during his playing career.
His experience in Egyptian football, both as a player and a coach, could prove vital as Al Masry look to turn their season around under his leadership.
