After securing their second consecutive Women’s Volleyball Super Cup, Club Sportif Sfaxien’s captain Khouloud Sammoud reflected on the team’s dominant performance against long-time rivals CF Carthage. The Sfaxien side triumphed in the final to retain their title, marking their fifth Super Cup victory following previous wins in 2005, 2007, 2010, and 2018. Sammoud expressed immense satisfaction with the team’s display, highlighting both the unity and strategic approach that contributed to their success.
“It’s a great joy. We had to continue with the moments of glory. Mission accomplished with great determination and control. Most importantly, all my teammates now know where they want to go. We were able to play as a unit and attack intelligently. I am convinced that the arrival of the Brazilian coach Edwardo has rubbed off on the team’s performance,” Sammoud said. Her comments underscored the positive influence of the new coaching leadership on the squad, emphasizing how tactical guidance and disciplined training helped refine their game.
The captain also spoke about the historic rivalry between CSS and CFC, noting that both teams consistently challenge each other on the national stage and in African and Arab competitions. “There’s always a rivalry between CSS and CFC. They’re both the best on the scene and have the right to aspire to titles both nationally and at the African and Arab levels. And when you manage to identify your opponent’s weaknesses and strengths, you can vary your tactics to your advantage,” she explained.
Reflecting on the match itself, Sammoud described the fluctuating momentum and the tactical adjustments that were crucial to the outcome. CSS started the game strongly, dominating the opening set, but stumbled in the second set, which they lost by a significant margin. “When you try to wrap up the match quickly, you make mistakes and gradually lose your focus. That’s why our opponent was able to exploit our lapse in concentration. Fortunately, we were able to react appropriately in the third set despite the fierce resistance from the Carthaginians,” she added. Her analysis highlighted the team’s resilience and ability to adapt under pressure, crucial traits that allowed them to secure victory despite challenges.
Sammoud’s reflections also illustrated the importance of teamwork, tactical awareness, and mental focus in high-level volleyball. The combination of disciplined preparation, strategic coaching, and on-court adaptability enabled Club Sportif Sfaxien to outperform a formidable opponent and maintain their dominance in Tunisian women’s volleyball. The captain’s remarks emphasized not only the technical and physical aspects of their victory but also the psychological strength required to manage momentum swings against a competitive rival.
With this latest triumph, CSS solidifies its reputation as a powerhouse in women’s volleyball, demonstrating consistency, skill, and tactical intelligence. The team’s ability to respond to setbacks during the match and capitalize on opportunities reflects their maturity and cohesion, promising continued success in domestic and regional competitions. The influence of Coach Edwardo, combined with Sammoud’s leadership, has clearly played a key role in shaping a team capable of sustained excellence.
