With the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) preparing for the play-offs of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers and the search for a new coach underway, it seems that Nabil Maaloul, who resigned after the initial elimination, won’t be returning.
As reported by Africa Top Sports, Dutch coach Ruud Krol is likely to be appointed as the new coach of the Carthage Eagles, at least for the short term. Krol, who is currently the coach of CS Sfaxien, is expected to lead Tunisia in the two play-off matches scheduled for October. After these crucial games, a final decision will be made regarding Tunisia’s qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Several other names have been mentioned in the local press as potential successors to Maaloul. These include Alain Perrin, Denis Lavagne (currently with Etoile du Sahel), Claude Le Roy, and Pierre Lechantre (available). Additionally, the names of Dutchman Ruud Krol (CS Sfaxien) and Tunisians Mondher Kebaier (CA Bizerte) and Maher Kanzari (Espérance de Tunis) are also under consideration.
