Ghazi Gherairi Departs as Head Coach of Club Sportif Sfaxien
Tunisian coach Ghazi Gherairi is no longer at the helm of Club Sportif Sfaxien after the two parties mutually agreed to part ways. Gherairi had been under scrutiny following the club’s underwhelming results in the Tunisian Ligue 1. Despite the disappointing season, the decision to part ways was amicable, and the coach has remained well-regarded by the club.
The Sfaxien management, however, asked Gherairi to remain as interim coach for the time being, as they worked to secure a permanent replacement. After several discussions and unsuccessful attempts to bring in other candidates, it is now expected that former Gabon and Burkina Faso coach Paulo Duarte will be named as the new permanent manager. Duarte, who has expressed interest in the role, is expected to be confirmed by the club in the coming days.
The announcement of Duarte’s appointment comes as Club Sportif Sfaxien prepares for their crucial Ligue 1 fixture against Jeunesse Sportive Kairounaise this afternoon, a match that marks the 23rd round of the league season.
With Duarte’s potential arrival on the horizon, the team will be hoping for a fresh start to turn around their fortunes and push for better results in the final stretch of the campaign.
