Georges Leekens will not be taking on the role of coach for Togo. Despite initially submitting his application for the position with the Eperviers, the Belgian coach has instead opted to sign a two-year contract with Tunisia. This decision comes after the Tunisian Football Federation pursued him as their preferred candidate.
Tunisia had been without an official coach since the resignation of Nabil Maâloul, with interim appointments by Ruud Krol and Nizar Khanfir. With Leekens now on board, the Tunisian Federation has filled the coaching vacancy with an experienced figure.
Coincidentally, Leekens will face Belgium, a team he has previously coached, in his first match in charge of the Eagles. This match is scheduled for June 7th, just days before the start of the World Cup.
