Tunisia coach Samy Trabelsi hails Nigeria as continental powerhouse ahead of AFCON 2025
Head coach of the Tunisia national team, Samy Trabelsi has hailed Nigeria as a continental powerhouse as teams gear up for the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament.
The Super Eagles, who finished as runners-up in the previous AFCON, enter the 2025 tournament among the favourites to lift the trophy in Morocco.
Ahead of the continental showpiece, Trabelsi acknowledged the strength of the Super Eagles while also emphasizing that the team’s experience and depth make them one of the most formidable sides on the continent.
“Nigeria remains a continental powerhouse, with a vast pool of talent playing at top European clubs.” He told CAF media in an interview.
While acknowledging Nigeria’s strength, Trabelsi also praised other African nations making strides in football. About Tanzania, he noted
“Tanzania is improving, with clubs regularly competing in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup. They leave a strong impression. They also have a standout player, Ali Samata, an excellent striker who has had a good career in Europe.”
The next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, with Nigeria drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda, setting the stage for an exciting group-stage clash.
