Tunisia: Club Africain target free transfer move for Tunisia’s Naïm Sliti

Club Africain have set their sights on Tunisian international Naïm Sliti, whose contract with Qatari side Al-Shamal SC is due to expire at the end of June.

With the 31-year-old winger nearing free agency, the Tunisian club is weighing a potential move as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.

Sliti, a key figure in Tunisia’s national team setup, has caught the attention of several clubs, but Club Africain appear to be leading the race for his signature.

The appeal of a free transfer has not gone unnoticed.

Without the complications of a transfer fee, negotiations are generally simpler and more cost-effective—a key factor for Club Africain as they navigate a competitive transfer window.

Talks are understood to be at a preliminary stage, with both parties gauging interest before firm discussions take place.

Sliti’s recent performance in the Qatari domestic cup has only added weight to his reputation.

On Wednesday, he played a decisive role in Al-Shamal’s 3-1 victory over Al-Arabi in the Emir of Qatar Cup, netting his side’s second goal and helping them secure a spot in the quarter-finals.

The display reinforced his attacking threat and ability to deliver in high-stakes matches—qualities that would make him a valuable asset at Club Africain.

While no official offer has yet been tabled, the Tunisian outfit is expected to make their intentions clearer in the coming days.

Sliti’s experience, creativity on the wing, and familiarity with North African football make him a prime candidate for a return to Tunisia’s top flight.

The player, who has previously featured in Ligue 1 and for the Tunisian national team in major tournaments, has not publicly commented on his next move.

However, the clock is ticking as his contract inches toward its expiration on June 30, and interested clubs are keen to secure an agreement before competition intensifies.

Club Africain are thought to be optimistic about their chances, but much will depend on how talks progress and whether Sliti is open to a return to domestic football in Tunisia after his spell in the Middle East.

As the summer transfer market begins to take shape, Sliti’s situation is one to watch—an experienced international on a free transfer rarely stays available for long.
