The National Professional Football League (LNFP) of Tunisia has imposed strict sanctions on Club Africain and CS Sfaxien following incidents during the 28th round of Ligue 1 matches.
Both clubs have been fined 10,000 dinars, approximately $3,307, and ordered to play their next match behind closed doors.
The punishment follows disruptions caused by fans during their respective fixtures, where smoke bombs were set off and bottles and other projectiles were thrown onto the pitch.
The LNFP’s decision is part of their ongoing efforts to ensure a safer and more controlled environment at matches.
The disciplinary action applies specifically to Club Africain and CS Sfaxien, who will both be required to play their upcoming matches without spectators.
This follows the events of the previous weekend, when both teams faced heavy crowd disturbances during their matches.
In a related development, US Monastir, another club involved in similar disturbances, has been prohibited from selling tickets for three consecutive matches.
During this period, only season ticket holders will be allowed to attend their fixtures, marking another significant measure taken to prevent crowd-related incidents in future games.
The sanctions are a direct response to the serious violations of safety regulations and the disruption caused by unruly behavior during the matches.
The LNFP’s decision aims to maintain order and reinforce the importance of respecting both the game and its spectators.
