Tunisia’s national football team bid farewell to the 2023 African Cup of Nations earlier than anticipated, following a goalless draw against South Africa on Wednesday.
The match, part of the third and final round of Group F in the tournament hosted in Ivory Coast, also saw Mali and Namibia end their clash with the same score.
Having secured only two points in the group stage, Tunisia finds itself at the bottom of Group F.
This exit marks the seventh time in the team’s history that they have been eliminated in the group stage, with the last occurrence dating back to the 2013 edition in South Africa.
In contrast, Mali leads the group with five points, while South Africa secures the second spot with four points, determined by their head-to-head performance against Namibia.
Namibia, in turn, clinches the third position, making history by qualifying for the knockout stages in their fourth appearance in the tournament.
