Bernard Casoni, the French coach of Club Africain de Tunis, was dismissed from his position over the weekend by the club’s leadership. Hired in July with the objective of securing the national championship title, the former Marseille coach failed to deliver satisfactory results. Club Africain finished in sixth place in the Tunisian championship, preventing the popular Tunisian club from participating in African competitions next season. Despite efforts by club president Slim Riahi to strengthen the team with the addition of Algerian international Abdelmoumen Djabou, the outcome did not meet expectations.
Prior to his stint with Club Africain, Casoni had previously coached a Tunisian club, the Tunisian Stadium, during the 2003-2004 season.
