The coach of Tunisia, Nabil Maaloul, has revealed the squad for the Carthage Eagles to face Cape Verde in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on September 7. Notably, Wissam Ben Yedder, who had a breakthrough season in Ligue 1 with Toulouse FC last year, is not part of the list.
Despite Ben Yedder’s repeated desire to play for France and his confirmation of waiting for a possible selection by Didier Deschamps, Coach Maaloul is still keen on the possibility of including the 23-year-old striker in the Tunisian national team. While Ben Yedder seems to be distant from the French national team’s plans, the Tunisian coach is reportedly keeping the option open. The Carthage Eagles are on a path to qualify for the final round of the 2014 World Cup, and contact with Ben Yedder is said to be ongoing in hopes of securing his approval to join the Tunisian selection.
