Luc Eymael Resigns as JS Kairouan Coach Amid Ongoing Club Turmoil
Belgian manager Luc Eymael has officially stepped down from his role as head coach of Jeunesse Sportive Kairouanaise (JSK), bringing an end to a tenure marked by both sporting success and internal instability.
Eymael, who joined the Tunisian side last season, guided the team to an impressive 9th-place finish in the league—a notable achievement considering the club’s challenging circumstances. However, citing frustration over persistent administrative and sporting uncertainty, the experienced coach announced his departure on Thursday.
In a heartfelt message posted on his official Facebook page, Eymael thanked everyone who had supported his work during a turbulent spell at the club:
“I thank the president and members of the board for giving me the opportunity to coach JSK and to show my work. A big thanks to my players, past and present, who gave everything under often difficult conditions. I also want to acknowledge the technical and medical staff, the equipment manager, and the team manager who worked tirelessly to help us achieve last season’s miracle. Lastly, I send a warm thank you to the true JSK supporters—those who stood by us in both good and bad times.”
According to Kawarji.com, Eymael had grown increasingly disillusioned with the club’s lack of structure and direction, prompting his decision to walk away despite the success on the pitch.
The 55-year-old former AFC Leopards and Free State Stars coach is now reportedly attracting interest from several other Tunisian Ligue 1 clubs, and a swift return to management is expected.
JS Kairouan now faces the challenge of finding a suitable replacement to build on the momentum created under Eymael, as they prepare for the new season amidst continuing off-field uncertainty.
