Nabil Kouki Resigns from Avenir Sportif de Gafsa After Heavy Defeat
Nabil Kouki’s tenure as head coach of Avenir Sportif de Gafsa has come to a swift and turbulent end. Appointed in August to succeed Khaled Ben Yahia — beating out Serbian contender Dragan for the position — Kouki has now stepped down following his team’s humiliating 1-7 loss to Espérance Tunis on Matchday 5 of the Tunisian Ligue 1.
According to Shems FM, the former Olympique de Béja coach chose to resign under mounting pressure and dissatisfaction from the club’s supporters. The defeat proved to be the final straw for Kouki, who struggled to gain traction with a squad that currently sits 12th in the standings with six points — four behind league leaders Etoile du Sahel.
This abrupt departure adds to AS Gafsa’s early-season instability, with the club now searching for a third coach in just a few months.
