Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Bayern Munich, has stated that the team has reached an agreement with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation not to include Moroccan international Nasser Mazraoui in the Africa Cup of Nations until he fully recovers from his injury.
Tuchel expressed his hope in a press statement that the football federation would honor the agreement between the parties not to rely on Mazraoui in the AFCON until he completely recovers from his injury.
This is to ensure that he does not miss an extended period with the German team.
“We have been in contact with the medical staff of the Moroccan Football Federation, and we advised not to include the player before the third round of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations.
We hope that this agreement will be respected so that it does not affect the club and the player,” Tuchel stated.
He added, “We understand that it is possible to rely on Nasser without considering the agreement, given the need for him, but I will be understanding because any national coach wants what is best for his country.”
Mazraoui joined the Moroccan national team’s camp in San Pedro, Ivory Coast, last Wednesday, directly from Munich, after undergoing a special training program at the German team’s training center.
It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team will play its first match in the Africa Cup of Nations against Tanzania next Wednesday at the “Laurent Pokou” stadium in San Pedro.
