TS Galaxy boss Esau Mtsweni hails Orlando Pirates as ‘the best team ever’

TS Galaxy caretaker coach Esau Mtsweni described Orlando Pirates as “the best team ever” after his side were beaten 3-0 in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday night.

Mtsweni took charge of The Rockets in the absence of assistant coach Bernard Parker, who missed the match for personal reasons. His temporary side were comfortably beaten by the Buccaneers at Orlando Amstel Arena, where goals from Simphiwe Masilela, Tshepang Moremi and Boitumelo Radiopane secured victory for the hosts.

The result extended Orlando Pirates’ unbeaten start to the league season, while TS Galaxy remained in 12th place, just above the relegation zone.

Mtsweni acknowledged that Galaxy had been punished for allowing Pirates too much time in possession, saying the quality available to their opponents made the challenge particularly difficult.

“Obviously, if you play a team like Pirates, one of the big teams in Africa, you give them time on the ball, they will punish you,” Mtsweni said at his post-match news conference, according to Mahlatse Mphahlele.

“They are the best. They’ve got quality players, coaches, hence I said they are one of the biggest teams in Africa.

“When you play them, you must know your story. They’re just the best, you know. They are the best team.

“That is why they won the league. Best team ever.”

The 3-0 defeat leaves The Rockets with little room for error as they remain close to the relegation places, while Pirates continued their strong league campaign with a convincing win over their Mpumalanga-based opponents.
