Trezeguet: eager to secure AFCON 2024 title and redress final losses for Egypt

Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, the winger for the Egyptian national team, has expressed his aspirations to clinch the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations title, aiming to compensate for the team’s previous two final losses.

In statements to ON Time Sports channel, Trezeguet remarked, “The team includes several players who tasted the pain of losing the final twice in 2017 and 2021.”

He added, “It’s a tough situation, but I am pleased to have many players of this generation who have already experienced this pain.

With the grace of God, we will bring back the title because this generation deserves to be crowned champions.”

Continuing, he said, “The media plays a significant role in assisting us, and we want them and the fans with us because our success is not just for us.

We cannot win the championship alone.

Everyone should know that we are going to lift the name of our country.”

Reflecting on the moment he earned the penalty that secured Egypt’s qualification for the 2018 World Cup against Congo, he stated, “I dedicated it to my parents. My father always wanted to see me in the World Cup, and he used to tell people that he has a son who will lead us to the World Cup.

That’s why I was extremely happy.”

Trezeguet’s sentiments highlight the collective determination of the Egyptian national team, driven by a sense of duty to the nation and a desire to overcome past disappointments in the pursuit of glory in the upcoming AFCON tournament.
