Trey Nyoni: Aberdeen linked with loan move for Liverpool midfielder

Liverpool’s England-born Zimbabwean midfielder Trey Nyoni is being linked with a move to Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen FC as the club explore options to bolster their central midfield for the coming season.

The 19-year-old, who is under contract at Anfield until June 2030, has broken into the Liverpool first-team picture over the past two campaigns but has so far seen only limited Premier League minutes. Aberdeen are understood to be assessing whether a deal can be done to bring him to Pittodrie, with a loan viewed as the likeliest route given his long-term agreement on Merseyside and current market valuation of around €8m.

Nyoni, a right-footed central midfielder, has primarily featured at youth and development level for Liverpool, where he has built a reputation through consistent game time in Premier League 2 and domestic cup competitions. He stepped up from Liverpool’s U21 set-up to the senior squad in July 2025 and has since collected first-team appearances across the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and UEFA Champions League.

Born in Leicester in June 2007 and eligible for both England and Zimbabwe, Nyoni first moved to Liverpool from Leicester’s youth ranks in 2023 before rapidly progressing through the age groups. He was part of the Liverpool squad that lifted the English League Cup in 2024, adding an early senior honour to his resume.

For now, Nyoni remains a Liverpool player preparing for the new campaign, with any prospective move to Aberdeen dependent on agreement between the clubs over his next stage of development.
