Trevoh Chalobah credits faith for Chelsea rise
Trevoh Chalobah has opened up on the emotional journey behind his rise into the Chelsea first team, explaining how nerves, belief and family backing shaped his path.
Speaking in the “Unlocked” series, the defender recalled the tension before his senior debut in the UEFA Super Cup, when he finally fulfilled his dream of representing his boyhood club on a big stage.
“I remember being on the phone to my family and I was nervous, man,” Chalobah said of that night. “I was going to put on my boyhood club’s shirt and actually play in a final. I was very nervous but I had my family there to take the pressure off a bit. The moment I stepped on the pitch, I was calm.”
He pointed to his stunning first Premier League goal against Crystal Palace as a defining milestone that made all the challenges of his loan spells worthwhile, including the tests of facing Kylian Mbappe in Ligue 1.
Now an assured and adaptable option in defence, Chalobah has remained dependable for Chelsea, making 31 Premier League appearances this season and scoring three goals.
