Trevoh Chalobah: Chelsea and England defender linked with surprise move to Como in Serie A

Trevoh Chalobah, the England and Sierra Leone defender currently at Chelsea, is being linked with a summer move to Serie A side Como as the Italian club weigh up a deal for the 27-year-old centre-back.

The approach is understood to be at a rumour stage, with the likelihood of a transfer currently rated at 53%, and no agreement in place between the clubs. Chelsea are not under immediate pressure to sell Chalobah, who is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 30 June 2028 and carries a market valuation of around €40m.

Como’s interest centres on Chalobah’s extensive top-flight experience, with the right-footed centre-back having made 117 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and scoring 10 goals from defence. He also featured in last season’s World Cup, making one appearance at the 2026 tournament.

Chalobah returned to Chelsea in January 2025 following a loan spell at Crystal Palace earlier that season, having previously gained experience on temporary moves at Huddersfield, Ipswich and in Ligue 1 with Lorient. Since stepping up from Chelsea’s youth ranks to the first team in July 2021, his status and valuation have grown sharply.

A two-time FIFA Club World Cup winner with Chelsea, most recently in 2025, Chalobah has become one of the most decorated academy graduates of his generation at Stamford Bridge. Any move to Como would therefore represent a significant change both for the player and for the Italian club as they seek proven top-flight experience.

For now, Chalobah remains a Chelsea player heading into the new season, tied to a long-term deal that strengthens the Premier League club’s position in any negotiations.
