DR Congo’s Trésor Mputu Sidelined for Five Weeks After Knee Surgery
Congolese international Trésor Mputu will be out of action for at least five weeks after undergoing surgery on his right knee in Monaco.
The midfielder, currently playing in Angola with Kabuscorp Sport Clube do Palanca, was treated at the renowned IM2S clinic in Monaco, a specialist centre for osteoarticular and ligament procedures. The operation was confirmed by his parent club, TP Mazembe, on their official website.
“Mputu, accompanied by the Kabuscorp club doctor, received treatment at IM2S in Monaco, a leading clinic for ligament and joint surgery,” read the statement.
The 28-year-old underwent arthroscopic surgery to address an external ligament issue in his right knee. The setback means a significant pause in his season, just as Kabuscorp continue their strong campaign in the Angolan Girabola league, where they currently sit second in the table.
Despite spending the season in Angola, Mputu remains under contract with TP Mazembe, one of the most decorated clubs in African football. The former captain of the Ravens had a standout career with the Congolese giants before making the switch to Kabuscorp.
The recovery timeline rules Mputu out of a series of crucial fixtures for both club and potentially country, as the DR Congo national team prepares for upcoming international commitments.
