André Ayew Linked with Potential Move to AC Milan
Ghanaian international André Ayew could be on his way out of Olympique de Marseille this summer, as speculation grows over a possible switch to Serie A giants AC Milan.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who is under contract with the French club until June 2015, is reportedly considering a new challenge, with Marseille also open to a transfer that could bring in much-needed funds.
According to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Ayew has emerged as a backup option for AC Milan should their pursuit of Torino winger Alessio Cerci fall through. The Rossoneri are believed to be keeping close tabs on the Marseille star, who has long been admired for his versatility, work rate, and attacking contribution from midfield.
AC Milan have already shown a willingness to recruit from France’s top flight this summer, having secured deals for Paris Saint-Germain duo Jérémy Ménez and Alex. The possible addition of Ayew would mark another significant move as the club looks to rebuild under new leadership and return to European competition.
The son of Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pelé, Ayew joined Marseille’s youth academy in 2005 and has since established himself as a key player for both club and country. He played an instrumental role in Ghana’s recent World Cup campaigns and has developed a reputation as one of Africa’s most consistent midfielders in Europe.
With just one year remaining on his contract, Marseille may be eager to finalise a deal before risking the possibility of losing Ayew on a free transfer next summer.
Should the move materialise, it would offer Ayew a fresh opportunity in one of Europe’s most prestigious leagues, as well as the chance to follow in his father’s footsteps by further elevating the family’s name in European football.
