Raja Club Athletic have finalised the signing of Moroccan left-back Amine Khammas after reaching a full agreement with Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia, concluding negotiations that had been closely followed in recent days.
The Casablanca-based club had already settled personal terms with the player earlier in the week and subsequently moved to finalise discussions with Omonia, successfully completing the transfer and bringing the deal to a close.
The move comes at a crucial moment for Raja, who are preparing for the expected departure of Youssef Belammari to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Anticipating the need to reinforce the left side of their defence, the club’s management acted swiftly in the transfer market, identifying Khammas as their primary target and prioritising his arrival.
Born on 6 April 1999 in Roeselare, Belgium, Khammas brings with him a diverse footballing background shaped across several European leagues.
He developed through the Belgian system, featuring for Genk, Lommel and Beveren, before moving to the Netherlands where he continued his progression with Den Bosch.
His career later took him to Cyprus, where he represented Apollon Limassol before joining Omonia Nicosia in 2024.
During his time in Cyprus, Khammas gained valuable experience at domestic and continental level, helping to refine his tactical awareness and consistency.
Known for his versatility on the left flank, he has demonstrated both defensive reliability and an ability to support attacking phases, qualities that appealed strongly to Raja’s technical staff.
Internationally, Khammas has represented Morocco at youth levels, featuring for the under-18, under-20 and under-23 sides, having previously played for Belgium in his early development years.
His dual background has contributed to a well-rounded football education shaped by different styles and demands.
With a market value estimated at €500,000, the transfer is viewed within Raja as a measured investment that balances experience and potential.
Club officials see his arrival as a key piece in maintaining competitiveness across domestic and continental competitions during the second half of the season.
The completion of the deal underlines Raja Club Athletic’s ambition in the current transfer window, with the signing of Amine Khammas regarded as one of the standout moves of the Moroccan winter market and a clear statement of intent ahead of the challenges to come.
