Ashraf Dari has ruled out joining any other Egyptian club during the current winter transfer window, rejecting a series of local approaches and informing Al-Ahly that he intends to leave only if an offer arrives from overseas.
The Al-Ahly defender’s stance was revealed by broadcaster Ahmed Shobeir, who said the player had taken a firm position after several domestic clubs made official bids for his signature in recent days.
“In the past few hours, Ashraf Dari rejected all offers presented to him to acquire his services during the current winter transfer window, and confirmed to them that he will not be present in any Egyptian team during the current period, and will not play for any team other than Al-Ahly,” Shobeir said in a televised statement.
The media figure added that the player has already communicated his intentions directly to the club hierarchy.
“Ashraf Dari informed Al Ahly Club that he would bring an offer from abroad and leave the team, stressing his complete rejection of the idea of playing for any club in Egypt other than Al Ahly Club,” Ashraf said.
Dari’s decision has placed Al-Ahly in a delicate position as they continue to reshape their squad midway through the season.
While the club have not issued a formal response, officials are understood to be evaluating the possibility of sanctioning his departure should a suitable foreign proposal materialise in the coming weeks.
The winter window has traditionally been a period of intense activity for Al-Ahly, who often look to reinforce key areas in pursuit of domestic and continental objectives.
The prospect of losing an established first-team player, however, complicates those plans, particularly when the individual involved is unwilling to consider any internal transfer within Egypt.
Dari’s outright refusal to negotiate with rival clubs at home underlines both his loyalty to Al-Ahly and his determination to pursue the next phase of his career beyond the local league.
By closing the door on domestic moves, he has limited the club’s immediate options to either retaining him or agreeing terms with a foreign suitor.
From Al-Ahly’s perspective, the situation is finely balanced.
Allowing the player to depart could create space in the squad and generate funds for new signings, but it would also require swift action in the transfer market to replace him.
Conversely, keeping him against his stated wishes risks unrest in the dressing room at a time when stability is prized.
Shobeir’s comments suggest that discussions between player and club are ongoing, with Dari making it clear that his future lies only in two directions: remaining at Al-Ahly or moving abroad. There appears to be no middle ground.
For now, Al-Ahly officials are assessing the implications of a potential exit while monitoring developments from outside Egypt.
Whether a concrete overseas offer arrives before the window closes will likely determine the outcome of this standoff.
What is certain is that Ashraf Dari has drawn a clear line.
He will not wear the colours of another Egyptian club, and his next move, if it comes, will be across the border rather than across the city.
