Wilfried Bony was very close to joining AS Monaco as a potential successor to Radamel Falcao. The Ivorian striker, who has had 3 Premier League starts this season with Swansea, attracted Monaco’s interest and the club even made a formal approach.
However, Swansea refused to let Bony leave just hours before the transfer window closed, blocking the move. So despite Monaco’s intentions, the transfer could not be completed.
It’s a missed opportunity for Monaco, as Bony would have been a strong addition to their squad.
