Alain Traoré’s Monaco Move Collapses as Transfer Deadline Passes
Burkinabe international Alain Traoré was close to securing a move to AS Monaco in the final hours of the transfer window, but the deal ultimately fell through, L’Equipe reports.
The delay hinged on Manchester United’s late formalization of Radamel Falcao’s transfer. The English club only confirmed Falcao’s arrival at 2:30 a.m. French time, after being granted a special deadline extension by FIFA. Unfortunately for French clubs, including Monaco, no such extensions are allowed, as the transfer window in France closed sharply at midnight.
As a result, Traoré remains at Lorient — a club where he is reportedly no longer wanted. With the summer window closed, the Burkinabe striker’s options are limited, and he may have to wait until the winter transfer window to find a new club.
For now, Traoré faces an uncertain future, stuck in limbo at Lorient after a move that seemed within reach slipped away at the last moment.
