Olympique de Marseille is keen on signing Arthur Masuaku, the promising left-back from Valenciennes. However, OM’s initial offer—less than one million euros—has been firmly rejected.
Jean-Raymond Legrand, president of Valenciennes, spoke out clearly at a press conference: “There are not just two players involved, but people expect VAFC to fall, hoping to get players for free. Even in liquidation, the players still belong to VA until the administrator’s decision. I’m aiming for more than three million euros for departures. We’re receiving offers below market value, but it’s fair game.”
Specifically regarding Masuaku, Legrand set the price straight for Marseille: “It’s 1.2 million euros or nothing.”
OM is expected to come back with a stronger offer soon, as they want to integrate Masuaku into their professional squad ahead of their training resumption scheduled for Saturday.
