Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has expressed a desire for clarity over his future at Chelsea but insists his immediate focus remains on the upcoming World Cup.
The 21-year-old, who has impressed during loan spells at West Bromwich Albion and Everton, told Het Nieuwsblad that he is still in the dark about his long-term prospects under José Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.
“It would be nice to get clarity in advance, but that’s not going to happen, so I’m completely focused on the World Cup,” said Lukaku.
Despite the uncertainty, the Belgian international, who is of Congolese descent, reiterated his commitment to the Blues: “You know, I still have a two-year contract with the biggest club in England, Chelsea. So I hope to still play there. Chelsea have a good manager.”
Lukaku is expected to play a key role for Belgium in Brazil as they look to make an impact with their golden generation of talent.
