Burkinabe defender Yassif Fadil Barro is poised to join Norwegian club Stabæk FC after impressing during a trial period in Norway.
The 17-year-old, who has been trained at Vitesse FC in Burkina Faso, spent nearly two months in Norway undergoing assessments with the Stabæk squad.
Club officials say his performances convinced them of his potential and the decision to secure his services once he turns 18 in April 2026.
A regular for Burkina Faso’s U17 national team, Barro has gained attention for his consistent displays at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations and the corresponding World Cup.
Observers highlight his activity, defensive awareness, and maturity on the field, despite his young age.
Stabæk FC, currently competing in Norway’s second division, has stated its intention to nurture Barro’s development over the coming seasons.
The club sees him as one of Burkina Faso’s brightest prospects and plans to integrate him gradually into the first-team environment.
“This trial confirmed what we already believed,” a Stabæk spokesperson said. “Yassif has the talent, attitude, and discipline to grow into a top-level player. We are looking forward to welcoming him permanently once he turns 18.”
Barro’s move represents a growing trend of West African youth talents moving to Scandinavia to develop in competitive European environments before potentially stepping up to bigger leagues.
For Burkina Faso, the defender’s transfer will be another positive signal for the country’s emerging generation of footballers.
