In a somber turn of events, a referee from the Casablanca League breathed his last on the football field during a match between the Anwar Alnoria and Wifak Sidi Moumen teams on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
The match was part of the Moroccan Amateur League.
The referee, identified as Osama Al-Shaabi during his lifetime, suffered a heart attack and succumbed in the 84th minute of the game.
The tragic incident unfolded in the midst of the Moroccan Amateur League, casting a shadow over the sports community.
Osama Al-Shaabi, affiliated with the Casablanca Grand League of Football, had a family background deeply rooted in the field of refereeing.
The regional referee’s untimely demise shocked the refereeing community, occurring right in the midst of a football match.
In the wake of this poignant occasion, refereeing expert Mohamed Al-Moujahid mourned the loss of the young referee Osama Al-Shaabi.
He posted a picture of the departed referee, accompanied by the words: “May Allah forgive him, have mercy on him, and grant him steadfastness in facing the questioning… We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
