Grief has engulfed the sporting community in Dakahlia Governorate following the tragic death of 14-year-old Moatasem Zakaria.

The deceased, who is a player for Mansoura Workers Club, lost his life in a traffic accident on Saturday evening while taking part in a charitable Ramadan activity.

According to local reports, the young footballer had joined efforts to distribute Iftar meals to fasting travellers and passersby shortly before the Maghrib prayer. While standing along a highway in the governorate, handing out dates and meals, he was struck by a speeding vehicle.

The impact left him with critical injuries, and he died instantly at the scene, leaving witnesses in shock.

Authorities reportedly responded swiftly after being alerted to the incident. His body was transferred to the hospital, and the necessary legal procedures were initiated as investigations commenced to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident.

In an official statement, the Egyptian Football Association expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Moatasem Zakaria, who represented the 2011 team of Mansoura Workers Club. The association extended its heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Mansoura Workers Club also paid tribute to their young player, describing him as a well-mannered and respected individual whose character stood out both on and off the pitch.

Zakaria’s death has sparked an outpouring of sympathy across the region, made even more heartbreaking by the fact that he was engaged in a charitable act during the holy month of Ramadan when the fatal incident occurred.
