Trabzonspor push to retain Cameroon top goalkeeper André Onana

Trabzonspor are reportedly making efforts to secure André Onana’s long-term future at the club, as uncertainty grows over the goalkeeper’s next step following the conclusion of his loan spell.

The 30-year-old shot-stopper is set to return to Manchester United following the completion of his loan spell in Turkey in the just concluded campaign.

Despite this, Trabzonspor are said to be keen on exploring options to extend his stay, with the Turkish side preparing for late negotiations in a bid to keep their first-choice goalkeeper ahead of the new season.

However, Manchester United’s plans appear to be shifting in a different direction. Reports suggest that new head coach Michael Carrick wants Onana to return to the squad and take part in pre-season training, where his future at Old Trafford will be assessed.

Onana joined Trabzonspor on loan in September 2025 and has since become a key figure for the Turkish giants. Over the course of his spell, he has made 33 appearances, conceding 40 goals and keeping six clean sheets across all competitions.
