Trabzonspor push to extend Andre Onana's loan after Manchester United exit decision

Trabzonspor are eager to retain Andre Onana following confirmation from Manchester United that the goalkeeper has no future at Old Trafford.

The Cameroon international has delivered impressive performances during his loan spell in Turkey, playing a key role in Trabzonspor’s run to the Turkish Cup final. However, United have made it clear they will not reintegrate him into their squad this summer, despite potentially needing another goalkeeper if Altay Bayindir departs.

The club reportedly believes Onana’s substantial wages and strong personality would make managing him as a backup goalkeeper extremely challenging.

Trabzonspor are exploring options to extend his stay, with another loan arrangement appearing the most likely scenario, though a permanent transfer has not been completely dismissed. The Turkish side may face difficulties meeting United’s asking price as the Red Devils look to recoup some of the £47.2 million they paid Inter Milan in 2023.

Meanwhile, Besiktas are also keeping tabs on Onana’s situation, adding competition for his signature. Manchester United are determined to resolve the goalkeeper’s future before pre-season training begins in July, as they look to streamline their squad under new management.
