Trabzonspor President: Mohammed Salah’s signing goes beyond financial gain

Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan insists Mohamed Salah’s signing is about far more than the financial benefits the Egyptian superstar could bring to the club.

Doğan believes Salah’s arrival has transformed the mood in Trabzon, with supporters embracing the former Liverpool star and celebrating his presence in the city.

“Our gain from signing Mohamed Salah is not just financial, but bringing happiness to our fans,” Doğan said in an interview with ON Sport.

“Today in Trabzon, people wake up in the morning to the name of Mohamed Salah, and they end their day by chanting for him. The city is experiencing a state of great enthusiasm.”

Doğan said Trabzonspor had not simply secured the services of a world-class footballer but had also gained a player whose personality and influence could have a lasting impact on the club.

“We have not only signed a great football player, but we have also gained a very valuable personality. Salah is one of the best players in the world, perhaps the best,” he added.

According to him, Salah quickly developed a strong relationship with his new teammates after joining the club, further increasing the excitement surrounding his arrival.

“From day one, he has built a great relationship with his teammates. Our greatest happiness is that our fans have experienced this atmosphere,” Doğan said.

The club chief also highlighted Salah’s influence beyond the football pitch, describing him as an important figure among Muslims and a positive role model.

“Mohamed Salah will not only benefit Trabzonspor in football, but he is also a prominent figure among Muslims, as he is a committed Muslim and a good role model,” he stated.

“Mohamed Salah’s move to Trabzon will contribute to strengthening relations between Turkey and Egypt. This move is extremely important not only on the sporting level, but also on the level of tourism, culture and friendship between the two countries,” Doğan said.

The Trabzonspor president believes the excitement surrounding Salah demonstrates the significance of the signing and its potential to extend well beyond results on the pitch.

Salah reportedly made his debut for Trabzonspor in Saturday’s Turkish league meeting with Kasımpaşa, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
