Mohamed Salah set for Trabzonspor switch

Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah is reportedly on the verge of joining Turkish side Trabzonspor in the current summer transfer window.

The former Liverpool forward has been at the centre of intense transfer speculation in recent weeks after ending his long association with the Premier League giants.

Several Turkish clubs expressed interest in securing the services of the Egyptian captain, with Besiktas initially emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.

However, the situation changed after Trabzonspor entered the race and moved quickly to negotiate a possible deal for the experienced attacker.

As per reports, talks between Salah and Besiktas slowed down due to financial demands from the player’s representative, Ramy Abbas. The disagreement reportedly created complications in negotiations, allowing Trabzonspor an opportunity to push forward with their approach.

According to reports, Trabzonspor have now sent Salah’s proposed contract to his agent after reaching an agreement on the key terms of the deal. The club is believed to be working on finalizing the remaining details before officially announcing the arrival of the Egyptian icon.

It is understood Trabzonspor are finalizing plans for a historic welcome ceremony for Salah, including travel arrangements and other logistical preparations ahead of his arrival.

A move to Trabzonspor would represent a new chapter in Salah’s remarkable career after several successful years in English football. The Egyptian forward left Liverpool at the end of the previous season following a reported disagreement with manager Arne Slot, who has also since departed the club.

During his time at Anfield, Salah established himself as one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s modern history, becoming a club legend through his goals, assists and consistent performances across domestic and European competitions.

His potential arrival in Turkey would be a major boost for Trabzonspor, who are aiming to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season. The club sees Salah’s experience, leadership and attacking quality as valuable assets as they look to compete at the highest level.

The Egyptian international would also bring significant global attention to Turkish football, with his popularity expected to increase the club’s profile both domestically and internationally.

While an official announcement is still awaited, developments suggest that Trabzonspor are now leading the race for Salah’s signature and are working to finalize the agreement that could bring one of Africa’s greatest footballers to the Turkish Super Lig.
