Trabzonspor eye Al Ahly defender Mohamed Hany on Mohamed Salah’s recommendation

Trabzonspor have reportedly expressed interest in signing Al Ahly and Egypt defender Mohamed Hany as they look to strengthen their defensive options.

The experienced defender has emerged as a top transfer target for the Turkish giants on the back of Mohammed Salah’s recommendation

However, despite the reported interest, there has been no official development regarding a transfer for Hany, with Trabzonspor yet to make a formal offer or reach an agreement with Al Ahly.

Hany has been an important member of the Al Ahly squad since joining the club in 2015 and has established himself primarily as a right-back, while also possessing the ability to operate in central defence and on the right side of midfield.

The 30-year-old is entering the final stage of his current contract with Al Ahly, with his deal reportedly set to expire at the end of the current season. That situation could make him an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their squad without committing to a significant transfer fee.

Hany’s versatility and experience at both club and international level are among the qualities that could appeal to Trabzonspor as they assess their defensive options.

The Egypt international has made 399 official appearances during his career, scoring eight goals and providing 31 assists, while his current market value is estimated at around €1.5 million.

At international level, Hany has earned 47 caps for Egypt and was included in the Pharaohs’ squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

For now, however, the reported Trabzonspor interest remains at the monitoring stage, with no formal transfer agreement or official negotiations confirmed between the parties.
