Defeated in the 8th finals of the African Champions League by the Ivorian club Séwé Sport de San Pedro over the weekend, TP Mazembe faces the daunting task of turning things around at home in order to qualify for the next stages of the competition. However, before focusing on the crucial upcoming match, French coach Patrice Carteron didn’t hold back in expressing his disappointment with his players.
Carteron lamented the missed opportunities and the lackluster performance of some of his players, stating, “This goal from Samata does us a lot of good because a 2-0 would have been very cruel considering the number of chances we had at the start of the match. Individually, some of our players were dismal. It’s surprising to see them perform like this in such an important match.”
A strong response is expected from TP Mazembe in the next match at Kamalondo, as they look to overturn the deficit and secure their spot in the next round of the tournament.
