Touré Affair: FC Nantes Must Wait Again

FC Nantes’ Touré Case Faces Further Delays Amid Legal Uncertainty

The controversy surrounding Abdoulaye Touré’s eligibility continues to cast a shadow over FC Nantes, as new complications arise in the ongoing legal battle. The club was penalised last season after fielding Touré in the match against SC Bastia on 10 August 2013, despite the player being suspended, resulting in the deduction of three points from their victory.

The case, known as the “Sané affair,” has hit a fresh snag. While the player was scheduled to appear before the Administrative Court of Appeal, no official date has yet been set. Touré’s lawyer revealed to 20 Minutes that although they were initially informed the hearing would take place at the end of September, no confirmation or precise scheduling has followed.

Meanwhile, FC Nantes’ legal representatives remain pessimistic about the prospect of a hearing before the Administrative Court of Appeal this year. If the appeal fails or is further delayed, the club retains the option to escalate the matter to the Council of State — the highest administrative court in France — but that too could involve a lengthy wait.

This prolonged uncertainty continues to cloud Nantes’ campaign, leaving both club and supporters eager for resolution.
