Toulouse executed a successful maneuver in the 9th round of Ligue 1, securing a 1-0 victory at home against OGC Nice, courtesy of a goal from Wissam Ben Yedder. This achievement propelled TFC to the 11th position in the standings, accumulating a total of 12 points.
Despite Ben Yedder’s pivotal role in clinching victory for the pink city’s club in the previous weekend, the striker faced a lackluster start to the season, managing only one shot on target out of five attempts in the initial four matches.
During an interview with 20 Minutes, the 23-year-old Toulouse player opened up about the challenges he encountered at the beginning of the season. He admitted to moments of doubt, acknowledging that the absence of goals affected his overall well-being. In response, he intensified his efforts, focusing on refining his skills in front of the goal and enhancing explosiveness. Diligently adhering to training schedules and pushing himself beyond the norm, Ben Yedder managed to rediscover his form on the field, leading to crucial contributions, including two goals and an assist in nine games.
Reflecting on his statistics, he acknowledged the expectations placed upon him, expressing a desire to surpass the current performance. Comparing the current season to the previous one, where he started strongly but faced a dip in form with the France Espoirs team, Ben Yedder remains optimistic about regaining momentum and making a significant impact. Notably, he emerged as Toulouse’s top scorer last season, netting a total of 15 goals for the City club.
