French Ligue 1 side Toulouse have reached an agreement with German outfit TSG Hoffenheim to sign Nigerian forward Gift Orban on loan.
The move marks a surprising turn in Orban’s career, as he is set to leave Hoffenheim after just over six months in the Kraichgau region. Despite joining with high expectations, the 23-year-old now looks poised for a return to French football.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Hoffenheim and Toulouse have struck an agreement in principle, with the deal structured as a loan that includes an option to buy. While Orban remains under contract with Hoffenheim until 2029, his standing within the squad has recently declined.
The striker’s early days in Sinsheim showed promise, as he netted four goals in his first seven matches, sparking optimism that he would establish himself as a regular goalscorer.
However, his momentum stalled as the campaign progressed, leaving him goalless in subsequent games and seeing his playing time steadily reduced.
Now, Orban is set for another fresh start, with Toulouse offering him the chance to rediscover his form and confidence in a league where he previously made his mark.
