Tottenham target Cody Gakpo in summer rebuild under De Zerbi

Tottenham Hotspur are making Cody Gakpo a central piece of their summer rebuild, with manager Roberto De Zerbi identifying the Liverpool forward as a key target for his project.

Spurs are working behind the scenes on a potential deal, hoping to convince both the 27-year-old Dutch international and Liverpool during the transfer window.

De Zerbi views Gakpo as a vital addition to his squad. The London club is not alone in their pursuit, with teams across England, Spain, and Germany also monitoring the versatile attacker. If Gakpo joins, he would reunite with fellow Netherlands internationals Xavi Simons and Micky van de Ven at north London. Tottenham has also targeted Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke as part of their recruitment drive.

Liverpool holds a strong negotiating position. Gakpo signed a new contract last year and remains under deal until 2030, with a valuation around €60 million. Despite a challenging campaign yielding nine goals and six assists in 52 appearances, his overall record is impressive: 50 goals and 23 assists in 180 games since joining the Reds from PSV Eindhoven in 2023.
