Tottenham Make €10m Bid for Lyon Striker Clinton Njie
Tottenham Hotspur have made a €10 million offer to French club Olympique Lyonnais for Cameroon international Clinton Njie, according to reports from Sky Sports.
The 21-year-old forward enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists in just 15 Ligue 1 starts. His pace and versatility have attracted the attention of Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is eager to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season.
With the departures of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado expected to leave a gap in Tottenham’s forward line, Njie is seen as a potential long-term solution. The Indomitable Lion has impressed with his direct style of play, and Pochettino is reportedly keen to complete a deal quickly.
Negotiations are ongoing, but it remains to be seen whether Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas will sanction the move. Aulas is known for driving a hard bargain, and Lyon may hold out for a higher fee given Njie’s potential and recent performances.
Tottenham have been active in the transfer market this summer as they aim to improve on last season’s fifth-place finish in the Premier League. The club has already added defensive reinforcements and now looks set to turn its attention to attacking options.
Should the deal go through, Njie would become the latest African talent to join the Premier League, adding to the growing number of players from the continent making an impact in England’s top flight.
