Tottenham Hotspur have announced a new long-term contract for Moroccan U20 international Yusuf Akhamrich, cementing the 19-year-old winger’s future with the club until 2028.

The deal, confirmed in an official statement on the club’s website, highlights the faith Tottenham have in their academy product’s potential.

“We are pleased to announce that Yusuf Akhamrich has signed a new contract with the club, which runs until 2028,” read the statement, signaling a significant step in the young player’s burgeoning career.

Akhamrich, who first turned professional last season, has already shown immense promise.

In his debut campaign, he recorded seven goals and three assists in 21 U18 Premier League appearances, a performance that quickly elevated him to the U21 squad.

His contributions helped the team secure the Premier League 2 title in April 2024, adding to his growing list of accolades, which also includes the Junior Premier League Cup with the U17 and U18 teams.

The London-born winger ended the 2024 calendar year on a high note, showcasing his explosive potential in the second half of the season.

Akhamrich delivered four goals and an assist in his final five matches, including a stunning hat-trick against Middlesbrough in a dominant 6-1 victory on November 29.

His resurgence was a rare bright spot in a challenging campaign for the Spurs’ development squad, which currently sits 21st out of 26 teams in Premier League 2.

Akhamrich’s rapid development and his ability to perform under pressure have not gone unnoticed.

While the first half of the season saw him struggle for form, his late surge highlighted his resilience and ability to adapt, key traits for any aspiring top-flight player.

The young Moroccan’s achievements at both club and international levels underline his potential to become a significant asset for Tottenham.

His progression from the academy ranks to a new long-term deal serves as a testament to his talent and the club’s commitment to nurturing its prospects.

As Tottenham look to climb the ranks in Premier League 2 and improve their overall performance, Akhamrich’s role will undoubtedly be pivotal.

For the player himself, this contract marks another milestone in a career that seems poised for greater heights.
