Emmanuel Adebayor Stays at Spurs After Blocked Transfer
Despite strong interest from West Ham and Stoke City during the winter transfer window, Emmanuel Adebayor remains a Tottenham Hotspur player — a decision reportedly influenced by chairman Daniel Levy, who was reluctant to strengthen a direct rival (West Ham currently sit 8th in the Premier League standings).
Adebayor, captain of the Togo national team, had been open to a loan move, but Spurs ultimately kept him at the club.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino expressed his support for the striker:
“We are happy that he is staying here because he is an important player,” he said.
“We have to help him improve his game. We’re trying to put him on the right track. I have confidence in him, like every other player.”
Pochettino acknowledged that the forward has struggled with form and confidence in recent months:
“When you play with confidence, you’re going to give your best. We have to analyze the past, and it was difficult for him to regain his confidence and his best level.
People need to understand that he needs time to regain his confidence.”
Adebayor, now set to fight for a place in the squad, will hope to prove his worth in the second half of the season and repay the trust shown by his manager.
