Adebayor Absent in Europa League Clash, Pochettino Dismisses Exit Rumors
Emmanuel Adebayor, one of the nominees for the 2014 CAF African Player of the Year award, was notably absent from Tottenham’s 2-1 Europa League victory over Asteras, a decision that raised eyebrows among fans and the press alike.
In response to the growing speculation, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino addressed the situation in an interview with Sky Sports, clarifying that Adebayor’s omission had nothing to do with a potential transfer or disciplinary issue.
“There is no question of selling Adebayor,” the Argentine tactician insisted, putting to rest rumors that the striker could be on his way out during the upcoming transfer window.
Adebayor, who is under contract with Spurs until June 2015, has had a mixed start to the season, scoring two goals in nine Premier League appearances. While not in peak form, he remains a significant figure in the squad and a vital part of Togo’s national team setup.
His absence may have fueled speculation, but for now, Tottenham’s stance is clear: Adebayor stays put.
